Title: FCC Still Dragging Feet On ARRL Petition For Domestic Amateur Radio Allocation Post by: Pete, WA2CWA on April 20, 2015, 03:07:00 PM From ARRL web site, dated 4/16/15:
The FCC has yet to act on the ARRL’s 2012 Petition for Rulemaking (http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/document/view?id=7022073018) asking it to create a domestic Amateur Radio allocation at 472-479 kHz, known variously as 600 meters and 630 meters. ARRL 600 Meter Experiment Coordinator Fritz Raab, W1FR, said the mission of the multi-station experimental operation “has actually been accomplished,” but since the US still has no medium-frequency (MF) Amateur Service allocation, he believes the Experimental license ought to be renewed. The WD2XSH license is set to expire in August. This was in may 2015. The old beacon band has been going over to digital beacons, naming the airport and log/lat freq. et.

Most of the high powered stations on the air in that freq range in recent year, did it on their own - no ARRL. Many consider the ARRL approach as asking for far too little power output.

From the ARRL web site dated 7/7/15: "The Commission is inviting comments until August 31 on how it should structure operational rules for a proposed 472-479 kHz allocation, 630 meters." |
