Currently running a Flex 5000 (barefoot). Been reading about these Pallet amplifiers which are getting cheaper and cheaper. 300-500W for ~$350. Has anyone tried these on 160 / 75 AM? How about reliable T/R switching? Sounds like a great winter project. I'd like to put something together that would produce about 300-400 watts. Comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

Do you have a model or manufacturer? I looked on the Richardson RF site and only saw one that worked at HF. It was rated at 10 watts and ran Class A. Some of the ones for the FM BC band were good for 500 watts and ran Class B.

They do say AM, but I'm wondering how clean? Reached out to the dealer to ask about duty cycle.
Many are using them on VHF and UHF with great results. They run off of 48V surplus switching power supplies.

Here in Texas, the pallet amps are also made. 100% duty cycle rated.

I suspect EBAY dealers will be cheaper. Neither offer any LPF's, so thTs the next puzzle piece I need to find. Would like to speak with someone who actually uses one of these. Want to use it on 160 / 75 AM primarily. Already have the 48V 50A supply and a heat sink from the local scrap metal yard.
