Title: 3873 and 3885 Khz. AM USA this morning
Post by: pe1mph on January 23, 2014, 08:37:23 AM
Hello AM Lovers,

This morning good conditions on 80 mtrs.
(between +/- 06.10 - 06.30 hour by me)
I heard some stations on 3873 and 3885 khz talking in AM:

- 3873 khz Steve? (max. S9+10!) and others
- 3885 Don K4KYV? (S 5)

Sorry I heard no names or calls, but I made a little recording (see below).
You hear 2 stations talking on 3873 and then I tune to 3885 and back to 3873.
Maybe you recognize your own voice....

Greetings,

Henk, pe1mph

Wow, amazing conditions!  That's Bob K1KBW first and then Steve WA1QIX after that.  Good, clear conditions for sure.

Thanks and Regards,

Steve

Henk, what kind of receiving antenna and equipment are you using? What is your location/site like? It's amazing, regardless of condition!

Hello AM Lovers,

Often I hear AM from the usa between 3870 - 3885 khz early mornings.
Before I go to work I listen nearly every morning between 06.15- 06.45 by me.
I listen in our livingroom (mon- to friday) with a Kenwood R-5000.
Connect with a homemade ant. tuner and +/- 45 mtrs wire hanging outsite.
This antenna is hanging from the roof to two trees and is end-feeded.
Hanging from North to South on +/- 15 mtrs (chimney) to +/- 18 mtrs (trees).
Sometimes I make a (little) recording from the stations I receive.
Evenso I listen mornings on +/- 3710 khz if F6AQK and 9H1ES are on air in AM!
My qth = Dokkum, a town in the North part of The Netherlands.

For us Europeans it is often difficult to understand the calls from usa stations.
Therefore, if you want, mention your call s l o w l y for us...

Maybe I can hear many AM stations from the usa,
