Title: Loyal Order of the Boiled Owls Post by: WA3VJB on May 05, 2013, 09:29:55 AM OK !
AM in the AM -- slogan. I like it. A good group on there. Made it to the frequency along with my first coffee on Friday. Fairly broad geography covered, from Illinois to Tennessee to Kentucky out to Maryland, but I received good signals from nearly all those gathered. They only meet for about an hour, so transmissions in this roundtable are a little shorter than what you might otherwise get in "old buzzard" mode. As it goes around they declare each revolution another "page," starting with Page One. And as with the AWA PM AM Net on Sundays, one person turns directly to the next rather than having a "net control." There is an anchor station, Sid, WI4M, who kicks it off and has the preamble. I like how they take SWL messages and read them on the air too. Their website has a form field that goes to one or more of the charter members in time to be acknowledged on the air. From what I understand, this gathering started 4 or 5 years ago here, and started picking up other participants as time went on.
