Title: Turbo Ranger modulator idle current Post by: K3ZW on March 01, 2013, 09:09:31 PM Hi Yall :-)
I just had my modulator transformer rewound by Gary at TRS and have it installed in the Ranger with 6550's ( Gary did a nice job to ) According to the WA1HLR turbo mod info I am to set the modulator idle current 90 to 100 ma. Does this highr current put my newly rewound modulation transformer at risk ?? Title: Re: Turbo Ranger modulator idle current Post by: KA2DZT on March 02, 2013, 02:46:30 AM No, mod xfmr should be OK. Don't run the idle current to high with the 6550s. 80-90 ma. Depends on the plate voltage on the tubes. Don't exceed the plate dissipation or you can damage the 6550s. Fred |
