Any ham who ever read QST regularly in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s will recall Rod Newkirk's unique writing style in reporting DX news in the days before the internet, and packet clusters.

Yea good stuff, his writing and the Jeeves cartoons, classic. I always found the column interesting even though I was reading most of them after the fact and I wasn't much interested in DX at the time.

Sorry to see him go.
