Post by: xe1yzy on October 31, 2012, 01:20:21 PM
Any chassis available for you next power supply project?, no problem use this "Transf-or-chasis" style...  ;D
This beauty was the EXTERNAL PS  of a BC-348!

I assume the builder was trying to be green and minimize his "chassis footprint" but probably ended up turning himself into one big carbon footprint with all the exposed voltage :)

Building power supplies for military receivers seems to bring out the worst in people.  The 348 I brought home from a hamfest in TN had a homebrew power supply wired with what appeared to be the ground wire out of standard 2-14 house wiring carefully insulated with clear Scotch tape.  Whoever built it looks like he spent quite a bit of time carefully wrapping the tape around all of the wire segments.  His wife was probably upset when Christmas came around and all of the tape for wrapping was gone.

I'm building a power supply for my ART-13. This gives me inspiration. I thought I was going to need a chassis for all of that iron. It's these money saving tips that really help.  ;D ;D ;D

I love the mix of that 'top-hat' diode, and that 'rat-turd' diode...
