I got a thrill working Toki JA1IFD yesterday evening 29050Khz 7PM ESTfrom Albany NY, after the band started fading out.

I heard many and worked some on SSB but not on AM. What antenna were you using?

I was using a 3-element SteppIR at 60ft.  With the condx like they've been lately, I think it would be possible to work all over east Asia and Pacific if guys are active out there and there are decent antenna and power on both ends.

For sure. I just worked Niue on SSB w/100 watts and a vertical dipole. If I get a better antenna up, I might have a chance for the JAs on AM.

Now you're talking.  Working JA on 10M sounds like something I'd like to try soon.

With the restricted space many JA's have to deal with, 10M Yagis are a viable alternative for them.

Thanks Tom.  I think the calendar might be working against us on the east coast, with less overlapping daylight as days tick by.

I wonder how many JA power houses are active on 10M AM.  A few days back there were scores of JA's at s9+20dB+ on SSB.  And a few were literally s9+40dB.  If one of those stations got on AM at the time, it would have been incredible.

Wow!  So far this season I have worked Hawaii and Alaska and Australia on 10 AM... I would LOVE to log Japan.  I wonder if anyone in the Philippines runs AM?  I am planning a visit to the Philippines in the Spring but I doubt it would be economical to take my AM station.
