TNX. Should be fun trying to remember to use it instead of the old one.

Steve,

Congratulations on the new call OM.

Boy that's going to me a bit to get used to that, it's been HUZ since I first knew you.
"Hotel Xray" does have a nice sound, so congrats!

For a few years now, after hearing Steve repeat his old call over and over and over when working DX, I told him he was probably losing a few months out of his life doing so... ;D   Now he's got four syllables instead of eight, whew.

I really, really like that new call. It doesn't even need phonetics cuz K, H and X are HARD sounds that can be pushed.  KKKKKKKAY - AHHHCH -  EEEEGGGGGGSSSS.   Beautiful call for tough cornditions.

Welcome to the 2-letter club after 34 years in the biz, OM.  You deserve it.

Congratulations on the new call Steve!  I never would have believed the HUZ man would want to emulate an old buzzard with a two letter call  ;D.  Enjoy!

I don't see why the Huzman as a "nom de plume" has to go away necessarily, just because the call sign changed.  But, I guess that's up to the Huz Man himself  :D

Anyway congratulations Steve; it is tough to give up a long held call.   K5UJ is another one that doesn't need phonetics but I didn't plan it that way, it was just dumb luck since it originally grew out of WB5KUJ.

The "J" can be a problem sometimes, especially with the Italians. I often hear them using K1 "GG" throughout the whole QSO, even after I emphacize it.   Maybe that's how some say "J", I dunno.  But thank god neither of us have "GJ" in the call. Now that is a tongue twister.

The HUX-Man and I have plans to assault the 75M DX window over the next few nights with his new call. I'm looking forward to having some fun with it - work him over good.. ;D

Introduction to the European whirl-wide listeners on frequency:

"And now... after a long awaited hibernation as a caterpillar, the all-new HuzMan emerges as a beautiful butterfly.  Please, a round of applause from Europe for, The HUXMAN!!! - Super Hero K-4-H-X!  Take it away, Steve! " ;D ;D

Tom,
The reason the Itralians have trouble with the "J" is simply they dont know how to pronounce it. There is no J in the Itralian alphabet.

It could be worse. With a vowell, a soft consonant, and another vowell,it all kinda runs together and everyone gets it wrong. But THEY gave it to me.  AHE, now that combo just sucks unless you give it phonetically.

Hi Steve,

Congrats on your new call!  Next year I will celebrate 45 years since I got WN3GMS back in 66.  When I dropped the "A" in WA3GMS, I felt I deserved it.

With a call like yours, you may want to get on CW ;)!

Best wishes to you and Carol for a great Christmas.

Regards,
Joe, W3GMS

You be the POSH man - luxury radio. Yeah, that IS a long one on CW.

One of the longest I've heard for voice is held by a DX buddy of mine, Woody, WW1WW. It was a requested vanity call.  "W" is the only letter in the alphabet with more than one syllable. His call contains 13 syllables.     K4HX, K1JJ, etc contain 4.     Takes less than 1/3 the time to say.

Though "W" is unmistakable because of it's time duration.

I wonder if Woody is doing self-imposed penace/karma for some ham misdeed?   ;D

Oh yeah?  I heard a good reason tonight on 40M.  I was working a Euro pileup on 7137 and a weak RG8U came back. I thought it might be a new Russian call until he said his name was "Belden."

The HOAXman was at it again... ;D
