Here's my latest addition to the shack.  The slugs are for 6 meters.  Now, if I could just get ahold of a couple HF slugs - one at 1KW - the other one could be less - for the reflected reading

Those knobs are original.  That's the dual diversity version of the SP600-JX17

The problem I see with that wattmeter is that you need two slugs for each range.  Even one is expensive enough.

That is true (to the most casual observer).  However, the price was right and I sort've like the idea of being able to see the forward and reverse at the same time.  I do have a single 43 but as have been indicated it's a bit tipsy with heavy cables.

There's an outfit that frequents the festers around here who sells slugs -- I'll be on the prowl for a couple of HF slugs.

I thought they made a single slug version that was desk or wall-mounted, capable of reading reflected power as well? Or am I making it up? A mind is a terrible thing to lose....

They do. Single meter in a panel with a single socket line section. But you still need to rotate the element to read reflected power.

Don't need no stinkin' crossed needles.
Just remember 4% reflected is 1.5 VSWR and 11% is 2:1 !
Round that to 5% and 10% and ya can't go wrong.
