for those interested in better modulators - the "burning amp" festival seems like an interesting event. apparently not the snake oild type of audio stuff.

Many folks here have the wrong idea about the current situation with DIY and audio... the place to find out more about it, and the burning amp event, I think it is about to happen for 2010 or just has... is http://www.diyaudio.com

You will find pix of some fabulous home built equipment, excellent engineering discussions that include some of the top designers and engineers in the audio world (you have to know who is who perhaps to know...) and discussions of circuitry and engineering, as well as neophytes who are trying to get started... a wide range. The very best is rather astounding... enjoy!

I like that site very much. There are a lot of people that know how to do good audio amps. Mr. Pass is one of the figures at that event last year. Too bad it is too far away for me to deal with.

One fellow stands out, and his name is Eric Barbour. Eric has his name all over the internet pertaining to vacuum tube audio. He once wrote a great tutorial on the history of the 6L6 tube. Today he is part of the guitar amp company Metasonix where tubes are used extensively in all sorts of gadgets besides just guitar amps. You might say that Eric is the HLR of the audio world using tubes. Click a few of the links to see what I mean:
