Title: Awful WX
Post by: Bill, KD0HG on March 24, 2010, 02:41:59 AM
It took me 5 hours to make it home today. Stuck at an AM site (760 KHz in Denver) until a neighboring farmer came over with a Cat 4x6 tractor to yank my 4x4 pickup out of a drift. After 3 hours.

Good old boys. Gave him the $20 I had on me for diesel fuel.

The entire Front Range of Colo., including Denver, is being buried this evening.

Ho-ho-ho. Happy spring.

pretty good Al. everything is  a mess here, trying to clear space for the arrival of Uncle Ray and get stuff packed up for the hamfester this weekend. I'm not gonna be able to bring some of it , just too much weight. Why does everything worth a damn on AM have to be so heavy??? :P :P

Yes Pete, the article was correct. There was widespread convective activity as the storm wound up, a 'thundersnow' of a couple inches an hour with lightning strikes.  Today turned out to be not half bad, it's sunny, mid-40s and lots of melting. We lost two radio station sites for a few hours because of lightning, power outages and equipment failures.

Nice,
I lived out in Loveland CO. just South of Ft. Collins in the mid 90's.
I miss Colorado, lots of healthy ladies and more micro-breweries than you can shake a frosty mug at  :D
I remember 12 inches of snow in the morning and 70 w/ sun in the afternoon.
Had some thundersnowstorms as well. Front range weather is awesome.
                                                              Happy spring,  D.
