Good to hear some activity, although most of the time when I try 7160, no one's around except SSBers. Still hearing quite a few stations on 7290, 7295 during the day. Broadcast stations showing up after 2100Z, so that tends to kill things a bit. 40 is still a great band and I'm glad to have the antenna back up here, so I can get on and make a little noise. 73, Jack, W9GT Title: Re: fb sigs on 7.290 noon sunday aug 16 Post by: Knightt150 on August 18, 2009, 03:43:07 PM HI guys I am on 7290 and 95 every wednesday after noon around 3pm, I dont hear much lots of static not even ssb. Both KA0ARA and myself were calling you this afternoon. You apparently couldn't copy us, but we were copying you and each other fine. 73, Jack, W9GT Title: Re: fb sigs on 7.290 noon sunday aug 16 Post by: W2PFY on August 19, 2009, 08:32:56 PM Today I was tuning around on 40 meters and noticed that Radio China was not exactly on 7.285. I think they were on something like 7.284.2. That was a surprise and the second thing I was told that they use a relay station in NW Canada. Anybody know anything about why they would be off frequency and if it's true about NW Canada??
They were having an English lesson today and I learned that hung yung mung means-use left turn signal. Title: Re: fb sigs on 7.290 noon sunday aug 16 Post by: Steve - WB3HUZ on August 19, 2009, 09:05:13 PM Canada uses the metric system.

Things should improve as autumn and winter condx set in, unless the novelty has worn off like it did on 3600-3750. We must have been skipping over each other Terry. I just had a nice QSO with Ron, W8KYD, who was running 25 watts with a DX-60B near Cleveland on 7290 at around 12:30 today. I'm still calling CQ with the Viking III, but it's pretty quiet! Addendum: Well, after working Ron, W8KYD, it was a steady stream of stations. I had nice chats with Frank, K3SQP who was elbows deep into a Valiant restoration, Dan, W8ICN running a restored HT-37 on AM, Dave, WB4FUR running mobile on AM with a Kenwood TS-480 and John, K4HQK running 40 watts of AM with an IC-718. Finished up around 2:30pm. 40 meters on a hot afternoon is a nice place to hang out! (With the AC cranked up of course!) Rob W1AEX |
