There was a time when Japan had a standard open outcry stock exchange system. (like the present floor of New York Stock exchange) Certain wacko Japanese traders would make a bad trade, get emotional and grab the competiton by the tie - choking them. The exchange finally outlawed ties on the floor. Japan has since gone to fully computerized stock trading.
