Title: R390-A Ballast tube Post by: WZ1M on January 16, 2009, 04:11:32 PM OK, here goes. Is the 3TF7 the same as the TJ311M01 ballast tube. I did do a Google and yes, it is or is it? I had someone tell me that it was not.
Let the frenzy begin....... Regards, Gary...WZ1M Title: Re: R390-A Ballast tube Post by: W7SOE on January 16, 2009, 06:15:34 PM It is my understanding that they are equivalent.
I hope so, I am running a TJ311M01 in my r-390a! Rich Title: Re: R390-A Ballast tube Post by: WV Hoopie on January 16, 2009, 06:23:11 PM Gary,
I guess if the R-390/A is to be put on a pedestal, never to be plugged in, a complete restoration; then it might matter. Doubt of many of these great receivers are in the back of a deuce and a half, towing a generator, over hill and dale where the ballast tube would make a difference. For many of us who use one daily, pull the ballast toob, replace the PTO & BFO toobs with 12BA6's, and jumper pins 2&7 of the ballast toob socket. Save $30 to $40 on a toob that doesn't last very long. But yes, I've heard that the TJ311M01 could be a replacement. 73's wd8kdg Craig Title: Re: R390-A Ballast tube Post by: kc2ifr on January 16, 2009, 06:37:32 PM Just a quick note for those who want to buy the correct toob....

The 3TF7 has no value added when using normal residential power. |
