Would there be any suggestions for a De-ESSER for my Flintstone radio show. I need something to limit the high freq content of the music. Cymbols crashing and sibilance causes excessive processing action on WBCQ 7415. I can see the offending freqs on my little spectrum analyzer I have in the recording loop. I do not want to use the EQ sliders on this thing, as they are too broad. I'm thinking a little tweek of the amount of De-essing would be easier. I do not want to record using lower sampling rates. I suppose it's overkill if all you want is a de-esser but it does have one of those. You can eschew the parametric equalizer, the compressor, the voice symmetry stuff. Or maybe somebody sells just a de-esser.

The CD's have to burned at 44.1 Thanks Fred do it in your digital editing software before you burn to a cd. setup a dsp filter to cut off everything above 5 or 6 khz you will still be burning at 16 bit 44 khz but your audio wont contain anything above the frequency you set on your filter. I found a Beringer "Composer" compressor, $99. I have an earlier version of this same compressor/limiter from the middle 90's....$199. The latest iteration of "The Composer" has a DE-ESSER function. My Symmetrix is wired for the Ham shack and it wudda been the ticket. I tried the software trick, but that adds another 25 min to finalizing my production to EQ or DE-ESS on the music that has a lot of high freq energy. Fred |
