I prefer the real spec sheet Pete. Its called an accelerator grid; for lack of a better name I guess :D even tho it functions as a screen. The middle grid in the diagram are the focus electrodes.

Hi Carl

I got an email from a boatanchor newsgroup user telling me that the tubes weren't interchangeable. Late at night, getting old, etc...  I saw that spec sheet before and forgot about the i.s. being tied to pin 5 and that pin 5 was to be grounded.
I'll pass that link along to my new "friend."  ;D ;

So, do you have enough test equipment down there to join the testing. Im glad to see the interest on this forum as the homebrew and others cant get beyond arguing about a one tube RX and TX.

Gas was $3.55 down the street from the tank farm in Chelsea, MA today. Had to drop off a restored R-390A at an air freight terminal that is going to Australia. I always hate that drive.

Only three good generators in the shack:  two older Clemens units and a Boonton 102F.
Unfortunately tt will be a while before I get to the point where I anything to do any measurements on!  Retirement won't here soon enough.
