Title: Snow Pix for you deprived East Coasters Post by: Bill, KD0HG on February 17, 2008, 11:05:59 AM Where did all of the snow land this winter?
So far, 305" officially in Crested Butte, CO (>25 feet) 441" officially at Wolf Creek Pass (37 feet!) Lots of winter yet to go. These pix are so awesome that I wanted to share... Title: Re: Snow Pix for you deprived East Coasters Post by: AF9J on February 17, 2008, 11:38:43 AM Very Funny! BTW Bill, how much snow do you have (aren't you away from the mountains)? ;) We've already had 76" of snow, with a month plus of winter left to go. Starting 20 miles north of us, they're supposed to get 10" of snow. Here - rain now, snow later on. With all of the snow we have, there are concerns about flooding in the low lying areas from the snow runoff.

Title: Re: Snow Pix for you deprived East Coasters Post by: WA2TTP Steve on February 17, 2008, 03:26:33 PM My wife and I are spending some of the winter in the Ft Myers Beach Fl area and are just loving it. We rented a condo over looking a man made lake surrounded by palm trees. The beaches are only minutes away and the weather has been very good most days. Temps running 73-83. Only had one day of rain so far but more is expected Monday...bummer.
I hear some AM on 40 meters but they couldn't copy my 25 watts from the mobile. I've worked some nice DX on 20 ssb. I'll be back to cold in Saratoga NY in mid March. Hang in there. Spent the day there outdoors in the sunshine. A bit windy, but the daffodils are pushing farther up. AND I heard "SPRING PEEPERS" for the first time this evening while out running with the dawg. Title: Re: Snow Pix for you deprived East Coasters Post by: Todd, KA1KAQ on February 19, 2008, 10:21:32 AM Add some street slime/mud and it looks like my front yard, Bill. We had a good 3 feet or so through December into January, then most of it melted. In the last 2 weeks we've had another 2-3 feet. 2 of the 4 porch roofs are cleared, the worst remaining one is being dealt with today. The supports around the posts are cracking with 4-5 feet of snow and ice piled on it. AMfone - Dedicated to Amplitude Modulation on the Amateur Radio Bands
Now I know why Wolf Creek Pass has those avalanche sheds built over the road in places. Can't compete with 37 feet, but even 6 is bad enough. Had a call from Joe 'PJP over the weekend, maybe 150 miles south of me on L.I. No snow. Some people get all the luck. ::) |
