Title: Cold weather radio ? Post by: WA3VJB on September 14, 2007, 08:55:22 AM This weekend along the eastern seaboard may bring some decent band condx.
Let the aether evolve ... Summer static season may be just about over... Title: Re: Cold weather radio ? Post by: AF9J on September 14, 2007, 08:24:31 PM Sure enough Paul,
It barely reached 60 here today. It's supposed to stay cold through tomorrow, and tonight, we have frost warnings! I'm hoping this will keep the noise down. I have the SX-96 warming up as I write this. I feel sorry for my parents. They're camping in a moter home up near the tip of the Door Peninsula (here in Wisconsin), in a motorhome. Yes it has a furnace, but according to both my mom and my dad, it still gets kind of cold in it. 73, Ellen - AF9J Title: Re: Cold weather radio ? Post by: Jim, W5JO on September 14, 2007, 10:11:06 PM I am sitting here listening to some 3s and 4s on 3.6 something (upper end) and they have reasonable signals. However there is a lot of static that covers them so I can't recover the audio.
Title: Re: Cold weather radio ? Post by: W3SLK on September 16, 2007, 05:23:23 PM I was on 3710 last night with Don, K4KYV. I thought the band noise would have been subdued. But last night it was heavily loaded with static crashes. Not the kind that would give you a headache but nasty enough to make copy somewhat difficult.
