PA0NVD:

Today I  heard good signals at 14.344 at 21.50 UTC
One station, I think. (I  could not identify), may have been K7OF. He was strong, S 7-8 The other station was N0AIE with a S 5-6 signal and 90% Q5. A third station was S 3 and I just could understand a few words.
I tried to break-in wit approx 300 Watts carrier, but there was no chance, no pause between overs.

KL7OF:

That was me working N0AIE ....I am in Tum Tum, WA and the other station was in S Dakota..I was 350 watts and 3 element wire beam .Sorry you couldn't break in...I am guilty of not leaving a break on the over....................................Hope to work you ....Steve

PA0NVD:

Hi Steve, thanks for responding.
indeed should be fine to work you with AM. You came in very fine!!
I have several AM sets, but my shack isn't ready yet, so they are all at the floor waiting. Unfortunately the power output of my real AM transmitters is low.
A Phillips SFZ 960 with 50 Watt carrier, an ANGRC9 with LV80 amp, but that for 40 meters and a T1154 / R1155, for 40 and 80 meters. I don't have a 40 meter antenna yet, will be build coming month (1/2 wave end-fed vertical)
I use now an Alinco DX70 with a home brew linamp of 1 kW PEP. Unfortunately I can't adjust the power of the Alinco, only High and Low. At low power, the carrier is approx 350 W, so the added sideband modulation to make AM isn't what isn't should be, but I have to do with it for now.
I will listen regularly around 14.330

KL7OF:

OK Nico................Thank you for reporting what you heard...I am happy that you could hear me...Please try to break in and I will attempt to leave some room for break ins...I hear quite a few SSB stations in South and Central America on 20 M...I bet we could work on AM , even with low power if condx are favorable...I operate between 14300 and the top of the band.................over.........Steve
